The aim of this study is to evaluate the knowledge about incidence, complications and management of exposed implant threads among dental practitioners. A questionnaire with 15 questions related to incidence, complications and management of exposed dental implant threads and was distributed to dental practitioners among Chennai through online portals. The response rate of the participants was recorded to 84.1%. In this survey most of the respondents were found to be post graduates (79.2%) and 40.2% in this population hold their post graduation degree in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. 70.2% of the study population has 1-3 years of experience in the field of implant dentistry. From this study it is found that the dental practitioners are aware about the incidence and complications of exposed implant threads but they lack the knowledge about the treatment protocols such as implantoplasty for the management of exposed implant threads.Proper knowledge about the treatment protocols helps in effective management of exposed dental threads which left untreated or mistreated may lead to severe complications such as implant failure.
