Type 1 Diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is auto immunological disease characterized by ß cell destruction, leading to totally or partially loss of insulin. Our study involved 80 patients (48 males and 32 females) with ages range from 4 to 46 years and 40 healthy individuals (25 males and 15 females) as a control group. The results revealed TRAIL gene expression was downregulation in patients, while GLIS3 was upregulation in patients comparing to control group. Also, our study showed decrease the level of IGFBP-3 (12.22± 1.0 µg/L) comparing to healthy control (16.64± 1.7 µg/L) with significant difference (p<0.05). In contrast, AIF level was slightly decrease in T1DM patients than control group without significant difference (p>0.05). Our results concluded that programed cell death play a key role in development of T1DM in interaction with other immune, genetic and environmental factors.
