Floating Microspheres of Metaprolol Succinate: Formulation and Evaluation

Author: OM PRAKSH YADAV, NARAYANA REDDY, DR. M. SYAM MOHAN RAO, DR RAMANARAO
Abstract: As indicated by the (WHO), hypertension is the most well-known cardiovascular condition on worldwide & there are around 600 million humans in danger for heart stoke, & cardiac failure. The igh BP is assessed to cause 7.1 million deaths, around 13% of worldwide fatality. It is accepted this number will develop to roughly 11million by year 2020.Metaprolol is abeta1-selective (cardio selective) adrenergic receptor blocking agent. In this investigation metoprolol succinate floating microspheres were prepared by utilizing ethyl cellulose and hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose as polymers. The pH modifier incorporation is common method employed to improve the weakly basic drug dissolution from floating microspheres. The microspheres arranged utilizing a mixture of both hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) ðyl cellulose (EC) that represents highest release are utilize to examine the effect of citric acid (CA), fumaric acid (FA), tartaric acid (TA), &ascorbic acid (AA) (all 5-20% w/w) incorporation on release of metoprolol succinate (MS). The MS formulation is arranged by utilizing diverse polymer (HPMC) with different diluents (ethyl cellulose) and then evaluated. From the results it was found that the release of drug (HPMC k 100M as polymer) gave the better release than other formulations.
Keyword: Metaprolol succinate (MS), ethyl cellulose (EC), dichloro methane, ethanol, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, narrow absorption window (NAW), calibration curve (CC), metaprolol succinate loaded floating microspheres (MSLFM), mean particle size (MPS)
