Safety, Efficacy and Tolerability of Tramdol And Diclofenac in Osteoarthritis Patients at Tertiary Care Hospital: A Prospective Metaphorical Study

The Osteoarthritis (OA) is the very common, chronic musculoskeletal inflammatory disorder which affects hip &knee joint in old people. Disease of synovial joint categorized by cartilage loss with accompanying peri-articular bone response. The objective of survey is to assess the safety, efficacy of medication by using different scales and to know about adverse effects of drugs. The study was conducted by collecting demographic detail of patient, medication chart of patient, profile form, patient and attendant interview. And the data collected was analyzed by using WOMAC and VAS scales. Data was collected for a total of 200 patients. And the data was again segregated into age wise, gender wise and prescription pattern of Tramadol v/s Diclofenac. In this study improvement was seen by using VAS and WOMAC scales. But the improvement with tramadol was found to be better in comparison to Diclofenac. The overall incidence of adverse effects in our study was 10% in Tramadol and 20% in Diclofenac group. Tramadol was well tolerated than Diclofenacinterms Nausea and Vomiting, abdominal painand constipation.
