Formulation and Evaluation of Carvedilol: A Buccoadhesive Bilayered Tablet

Author: PAUL T JOYES, PADMANABHAN P, DR CH ANIL KUMAR, DR.K.V. RAMANA KUMAR
Abstract: The motivation behind this exploration study was to set up “mucoadhesive buccal tablets (MBTs)”of carvedilol in types of bilayered tablets. The tablets are readied utilizing “Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC K4M)”, “sodium carboxy methyl cellulose (SCMC)”, and “Carbopol-934 (CP)” as bioadhesive polymers to give “ethyl cellulose (EC)” to perform as IBL. The buccal tablets are evaluated by numerous boundaries, like weight consistency, hardness, content consistency, thickness, surface pH, expanding list, ex vivo mucoadhesive strength (EVMS), in VDD & VBP. The component of medication discharge was discovered to be non-Fickian dissemination (value of n among 0.5 & 1.0) for 2 BTs. The current investigation infers that mucoadhesive BTs of carvedilolmight be best path to sidestep the broad “hepatic first-pass metabolism” and to enhance carvedilolbio-availability.
