Background: The morbidity rate of leprae in Jeneponto District in 2013 was 2.6 per 10,000 population. Whereas in 2014 the number of new cases was 67 cases in which the proportion of males was 62.69% and females were 37.31%. Of the 67 new cases of leprae.
Objective: This study was performed to analysis of epidemiological characteristics associated with non-adherance to treatment leprae paucibacillary patients in Jeneponto District, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Methods: This case control study was conducted in Jeneponto District, South Sulawesi Indonesia, Indonesia using a sample of 30 cases leprae who seek treatment using MDT (Multy Drug Therapy) in Jeneponto District starting and 30 control. Data collect using checklist. Data analysis using chi square test and data were processed using SPSS version 20.0.
Results: There were correlation between the level of knowledge, service distance, family support and shame with irregularities in treatment of leprae patients in Jeneponto District (p<0.05). But there is no relationship between age, education level, service staff, level of disability, reaction at the time of taking medication and desire to seek treatment (p>0.05).
Conclusion: This analysis confirmed there were correlation between the level of knowledge, service distance, family support and shame with irregularities in treatment of leprae patients in Jeneponto District.
