Awareness on Artificial Intelligence Among Undergraduate Dental Students

Author: SHILPA MERLYN JOSE, HANNAH R, JOTHI PRIYA A
Abstract: The aim of this study is to analyse the awareness of artificial intelligence among undergraduate dental students. Artificial intelligence is the work demonstrated by machines in contrast to natural intelligence. There are so many inventions in the field of dentistry which are used for diagnosis and treatment planning. The current study was a cross sectional survey conducted among 103 undergraduate dental students. A self structured questionnaire was circulated through online survey link-Google forms, data tabulated and analysed. The results were categorised as knowledge, attitude and practice. From these results we can conclude that most of the students were aware of artificial intelligence and they think AI is very useful for analysing patients and also some dental procedures. AI is useful for all the departments in dentistry. There are some advantages and disadvantages. Some of them agreed to use AI in their future clinic.
