Introduction: Denture base is a part of denture which rests on the basal seat and to which teeth are attached. Denture base resins are used to prepare the base where it is a natural or synthetic substance that forms plastic materials after polymerisation. The resins used to prepare the denture base is of acrylic resins. These resins are colonised by oral and non oral bacteria and Candida species. This study is to determine the awareness and knowledge of antimicrobial activity of dentures among dentists.
Materials and methods: This is a survey study conducted among 100 dentists in the year of 2020. About 15 questions were framed and distributed through online portal web to the participants. Then the datas was collected and results analysed.
Results and discussion: The results were tabulated as per the questionnaire collected as the survey has been taken from dentists. It is seen that 90% of the population has an awareness and idea on antimicrobial activity of denture and also the materials that can be added to increase the antimicrobial property.
Conclusion: Here by this study proves that the dentists have adequate awareness regarding the antimicrobial properties of denture base and also on the materials used to increase the antimicrobial property.
