Awareness of e-Learning and Its Implications Among Health Professionals - A Survey

Abstract: Background: E- learning is a recent trend in the teaching learning process and particularly during this pandemic knowledge is transformed from a teacher to learner through e-learning resources only. Advances in information and communication technology are influencing instructional formats and delivery modes for post secondary teaching and learning.The aim of this study is to determine the awareness of e-learning and its recent trends in implication among health professionals Methods: elf-administered questionnaire is used for the survey and distributed in online Google forms in the year 2020 and hundred health care professionals are involved in the survey. The responses are collected and tabulated. The Statistical data was analysed using the SPSS tool for descriptive and association analysis. Results: About 58.6% of male and 41.4% of females participated in this survey. The responses of the survey suggests about 43% of the participants are comfortable with online pedagogy, 37% of the participants reported that online course offerings enhance the quality of institutions reputation, around 37% of the participants felt that absence of face to face interaction in online teaching to be a disadvantage. The findings of the survey suggests that health professionals are aware of e learning methods and they have a positive attitude towards e-learning strategies even though they assume few threats on intellectual property they strongly agree its necessity in the recent world. Conclusion: The results provide evidence to support that e-learning is a useful tool if used without compromising pedagogy .It also suggests that health care professionals need lots of training and awareness to utilise this process of learning efficiently.
