Steroids are widely used drugs in dentistry. The main reason is due to its anti- inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties . It has been used commonly as topical administration for oral lesions in dentistry. The aim of this questionnaire study is to assess the awareness of proper treatment protocol of use of topical steroids in management of oral mucosal lesion among dental students in a university setting. An online questionnaire consisting of 15 questions eliciting the information regarding topical steroids, tapering and side effects were formulated and circulated among the dental students in a University setting. Data collected were tabulated and assessed using SPSS software. Pearson association was done between the year of study and the awareness percentage, and found to be statistically significant (Chi square value : 178.442, p value : 0.00 <0.05). Postgraduate students had excellent awareness compared to the undergraduate students followed by interns who had average awareness on use of topical steroids on management of oral mucosal lesions. More awareness should be created among dental students as corticosteroids are widely used in management of oral mucosal lesions.
