Synthesis of (2e) - 1, 3-Diphenyl-2-Propene-1-One Derivatives and Evaluation of its Antioxidant and Anti-Parkinsonism Activity

Author: UPLOADED BY-ADMIN, MAHAJAN SK, PATIL CB
Abstract: Chalcones are (2E)-1,3-diphenyl-2-propen-1-one, in which two aromatic rings are linked by a three carbon and a, ?- unsaturated carbonyl system. The present study was conducted to synthesize chalcones by base catalyzed and acid catalyzed condensation, to evaluate their in-vitro antioxidant activity by DPPH (Diphenyl Phenyl Hydrazine) method and in-vivo antiparkinson activity by haloperidol induced catalepsy model. The result showen that, base catalyzed condensation of chalcones is more effective as compared to acid catalyzed condensation with respect to time, yield and purity. The titled compounds exhibited well defined antiparkinson activity in in-vivo model.
