ATTENDANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING IRIS RECOGNITION

Abstract: In conventional method, attendance of students is taken by calling student names or by maintaining classroom registers which is extremely time overwhelming. To eliminate this problem one of the solutions is a biometric-based attendance system that can automatically capture students' attendance by recognizing their iris. In this project we are trying to interface iris scanner with NI MYRIO which will detect the iris of an individual and the captured iris is matched with the database (student/employee) which will generate the final report. Iris recognition is one of the most reliable, accurate and efficient biometric identification systems due to the inner characteristics of iris, such as uniqueness, immovability and time invariance. So, there will be no way for proxy [1, 2, 3]. This method is not only for the college or schools, this method can be also be implemented in various industries where monitoring of employees is mandatory. Iris based attendance monitoring system is implemented using NI LABVIEW which is a GUI (graphical user interface) based implementing software which is used to also monitor various real time parameters like regularity of students/employers which are all embedded in a single system. Initiation of attendance is initiated by the head of monitoring and the termination is done by the same person who authorise the initiation. Generation of excel sheet and sending SMS to the absent pupils is the indication of completion of attendance monitoring system.
