Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of five main
manifestations of coronary heart disease and is the leading cause of death in Indonesia. One of several risk factors for
the development of acute myocardial infarction is the elevated homocysteine level in the blood. Homocysteine
metabolism is affected by pyridoxine as the cofactor. This study aimed to determine the correlation of serum
homocysteine and pyridoxine levels in AMI patients. The design of this study was cross-sectional design with samples
of 25 randomly selected AMI patients. This study was conducted from August to November 2016 in the Biomedical
Laboratory of Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University. The levels of homocysteine and pyridoxine were measured by
using ELISA method. Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation test. The mean result of homocysteine level
was 23,17 ± 9,2 nmol/mL, dan the mean level of pyridoxine was 128,44 ± 34,02 pmol/L. There was a significant
relationship between the level of homocysteine and the level of pyridoxine (r = -0,530 p=0,006).There was a
significant relationship between the level of homocysteine and the level of pyridoxine in patients with acute
