The Incidence and Trend of Skin Cancer in Boyer Ahmad County, from 2011 to 2016.

Abstract: Background and aim: Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world, which causes mortality and high cost of treatment. To prevent skin cancer, there is a need for information on the incidence and trend of changes in the area. This study was conducted to determine the frequency and trend of skin cancer incidence in Boyerahmad County. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, the data were collected from data recorded in pathology centers during 2011-2016, the incidence trends of skin cancer According to age and sex groups were estimated and reported. Results: In a six-year study period, 1563 cases of cancer were recorded, of which 390 (24.95%) were skin cancers. 227 (58.1%) were male and 163 (41.9%) were female. The annual incidence in 2011 was 30 cases and in 1395 was 63 cases per 100000 people, which represents a two-fold increase. The mean annual incidence in men was 52.37 and in women it was 40.95 per 100,000. The most cases of diagnosis were with the age group of 40- 49 years old with 105.84 per 100000 of the population. 283 people (72.6%) were urban and 107 (27.4%) were rural residents. Conclusion: The incidence of skin cancer in the region is the same as similar studies and is increasing. Community education is essential in meeting the necessary prevention.
