LONG-TERM USE OF IRON-MINERAL AND IRONORGANIC DRUGS

Author: A. TROSHIN, A. N. TURCHENKO, P. D. ONISCHUK, A. G. KOSHCHAEV, S. P. KUDINOVA, A. Y. SHANTYZ, O. V. KOSHCHAEVA
Abstract: The article presents the results of a comparative laboratory study of the subacute and chronic toxicity of new ironcontaining drugs intended for farm animals. The prolonged use of ferrodrugs by injection led to a slight reversible increase in the aminotransferases activity, which indicates the hepatocytolysis phenomenon. In addition, an increase in the bilirubin and creatinine concentration in the blood has been observed, indicating the stress of the liver and kidneys performance level. On the background of the long-term intraperitoneal injection of ferro-quin, a slight decrease in the number of erythrocytes and haemoglobin has been revealed, against the background of an increase in the bilirubin concentration. However, these changes do not extend beyond the known standards. Parameters of the chronic toxicity of the studied drugs are characterized by the absence of signs of multiple organ failure. On the background of long-term ferrotherapy, the mass ratios of the internal organs of rats did not significantly differ from the control groups. The studied ferrodrugs meet the current requirements for drugs for animal husbandry and veterinary medicine in terms of subacute and chronic toxicity.
