REINDEER BRUCELLOSIS EPIZOOTIC STATUS IN THE SAKHA REPUBLIC (YAKUTIA)

Abstract: The article contains materials about the dynamics of brucellosis-affected locations in reindeer-breeding farms in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Analysis of the data shows how the efficiency of diagnostic studies of brucellosis in reindeer has varied over the last 28 years. It is shown by the results of statistical analysis, where the correlation coefficient between the two ranges of values was -0.02 (r = -0.02). After 2007, the picture changed dramatically, and the coefficient of direct correlation was -0.9 (r = +0.9). That is, with a high degree of veracity, the number of reacting animals depended on the number of examined animals. Analysis of the epizootic state of the tundra, forest-tundra, mountain-taiga, and taiga territorial-climatic zones of the Republic in terms of brucellosis in the domesticated reindeer was performed between 1988 and 2016. The percentage of reindeer positively reacting to brucellosis in the tundra zone was on the average 2-3 times higher than in the mountain-taiga and the forest-tundra zones. The reindeer infection rate in disadvantaged areas in 1988 – 1990 was very high and amounted to 2.0 – 5.2 %. As a result of the taken antibrucellar measures, the number of animals infected in 2008 – 2010 decreased significantly, and now amounts to 0.6 – 1.3 %. However, the number of affected locations remains unchanged, correlating with the certain stabilization of the population dynamics. The number of affected locations shows a downward trend — from 19 districts in 1988 to 8 in 2017. The reindeer infection rate in the tundra zone of the Republic declined significantly (by 1.4 – 3.9 %), and now amounts to 0.6 – 1.3 %. The reindeer brucellosis infection rate in the mountain-taiga and the forest-tundra zones is 0.1 – 2.2 %; brucellosis is not found in animals of the taiga zone.
