Comparison of pathological findings in FNA and surgery in patients with cold thyroid nodules

| Abstract:

Definite prompt diagnosis of malignancy in thyroid cold nodule is essential. Accordingly, this study was performed to
compare the results of FNA and surgical pathology in patients with a cold noduleon thyroid. This observational study
was performed as a comparative cross-sectional diagnostic survey among 100 patients with Thyroid Cold Nodule in
Qom Beheshti Hospital in 2014. The associations of emergency imaging and surgical results were assessed. In this study
it was seen that FNA and surgical pathology results had a significant association (P=0.0001) and the sensitivity and
specificity were 98.9% and 71.4%, respectively in companing FNA and surgical pathology Finally, according to the results,
it may be concluded that FNA has good sensitivity and medium level specificity in the diagnosis of lesion type in patients
with a cold noduleon thyroid.
