A series of novel 2-Aminobenzothiazole derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity. These compounds were synthesized by the reaction of 2-Aminobenzothiazole with chloroacetylchloride in the presence of potassium carbonate in chloroform to synthesize 2-Chloro-N-(benzothiazol-2-yl)acetamide (AS), which was further reacted with various amines in the presence of potassium carbonate in acetone afforded target compounds (AS 1-12). All the newly synthesized compounds were screened for their anticonvulsant activity by Maximal Electroshock Seizure (MES) Model and subcutaneous pentylenetetrazol (scPTZ) Model.
