Author: AZIZ RAHMAN, TAJUDDIN, K.M.Y. AMIN
Abstract: Abstract Plants and its products are the need of today’s treatment to cure different human diseases or body ailments. But their appropriate authenticity and identification is a big hitch which predicament the use of herbs in treating the diseases. A Unani preparation constitutes of Colchicum luteum, Zingiber officinale and Aloe vera however, despite being scientifically proved to be an effective anti-inflammatory formulation has yet not been standardized on physicochemical and analytical parameters so as to ensure the supply of genuine drug and also certain the expected pharmacological effect. So, in view of the need of standardization, physicochemical studies such as organoleptic properties, quantitative and semi quantitative test methods like Extractive values, Ash values, pH value, Moisture content, Loss of weight on drying, TLC and HPLC etc. have been conducted. Since this is one of the earliest studies on this pharmacopeial formulation therefore, the findings will help to set the standards for future reference.
Keyword: Key Words: C. luteum, Z. officinale, A. vera, Physicochemical and HPLC.
