| Abstract:

: Arthrito is a marketed polyherbal formulation indicated for arthritis and arthritis related inflammation. Most of the herbal medicines are effective but they lack of complete standardization. Standardization is necessary to ensure quality, purity, safety and efficacy of the herbal products. The present research study deals with the standardization by modern scientific quality control procedures for the finished formulation. Standardization of Arthrito was achieved by performing organoleptic characterization, various physic-chemical parameters such as moisture content, ash values, extractive values, capsule evaluation, qualitative and quantitative estimation etc. HPTLC, Heavy metals content and microbial load were also carried out to ascertain the quality, purity and safety of the formulation. From the study we concluded that all the contents of the formulation were present within the permissible limit as per WHO.
