Abstract:
|
An efficient synthesis of angiotension II receptor antagonist Olmesartan medoxomil (Benicar ®) is presented. The
Suzuki cross coupling of 5-phenyl-1-benzyl-1H-tetrazolyl boronic acid (7) with aryl bromide (8) followed by ester
hydrolysis is the key step (82 %) of the synthesis. This route overcomes the drawbacks of the previously reported synthesis.
