The aim of this research was to develop a stability indicating RP-HPLC method for simultaneous determination of Nimesulide and Methyl salicylate in topical gel formulations. Separation of Nimesulide and Methyl salicylate was achieved on Hypersil BDS C18, 200 × 4.6 mm, 5µm with mobile phase as mixture Water, Acetonitrile and Phosphoric acid in the ratio of 600:400:1 (v/v) and pH adjusted to 4.0 with Triethyl amine. Separation was achieved on isocratic mode with flow rate of 1.0 ml/minute and detection wavelength of 220 nm. Method was validated in the terms of specificity, Method precision, Intermediate precision, Linearity, Accuracy, Solution stability and Robustness. Accuracy of the test method was found between 98.8% and 101.4%. The correlation coefficient of linearity plot was found more than 0.999 for Nimesulide and Methyl salicylate. The method is simple, accurate and stability indicating and can be used to monitor Nimesulide and Methyl salicylate in topical gel formulations throughout stability conditions in pharmaceutical industry.
