A simple, fast, precise and accurate spectroscopic method was developed for the estimation of tizanidine hydrochloride, diclofenac potassium and paracetamol in combination tablet. This combination is used for spasm and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders. The estimation of this combination was done simultaneously by spectrophotometry using 2% v/v dimethyl formamide as a solvent. After observing the overlain spectra, it was found that ? max of PCM 241.4 nm and DIC 276 nm did not interfere with the ? max of TIZ 319.5 nm, while TIZ interfered with that of PCM and DIC. In this method the concentrations of paracetamol, diclofenac potassium were calculated using simultaneous equation after removing the effect of tizanidine hydrochloride, the concentration of which was calculated by directly using absorptivity. Due to its simplicity and accuracy the proposed method can be used for routine quality control analysis of these drugs in combination tablets.
