A Clinical Study on the Efficacy of Guduchyadi Rasayan and Gayatri Mantra Chanting In the Management of Academic Stress among School-Going Children

Author: DR GAYATRI, PROF. (DR.) HARISH KUMAR SINGHAL
Abstract: Introduction: School-going children are not immune to stress, particularly in the Indian context where academic pressure is intensified by parental expectations, career-related concerns, time-bound goals, and the physiological and psychological changes of adolescence. If left unmanaged, this academic stress can lead to adverse outcomes. The present study aims to identify the risk factors, common manifestations, and coping mechanisms associated with academic stress, while also exploring effective Ayurvedic and spiritual interventions, including herbal formulations, for its management. Aim & Objectives: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Guduchyadi Rasayan and Gayatri Mantra chanting in the management of academic stress in school-going children. Materials and Methods: A single-arm, open-label clinical study was conducted on 102 school children diagnosed with academic stress. Participants were selected from the OPD and IPD of the Department of Kaumarbhritya at Dr. S.R. Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur, as well as nearby primary schools. The intervention included oral administration of Guduchyadi Rasayan in a dose calculated using Young’s formula, alongside Gayatri Mantra chanting (five repetitions, three times daily) for a duration of 45 days. Results and Discussion: The combination of Guduchyadi Rasayan and Gayatri Mantra chanting showed significant improvement in both subjective and objective parameters related to academic stress. Children exhibited reduced symptoms of stress and improved mental well-being, indicating the positive impact of the integrative intervention. Conclusion: The study concluded that Guduchyadi Rasayan in conjunction with Gayatri Mantra chanting was found effective in managing academic stress among school-going children, offering a promising integrative approach rooted in Ayurveda and Vedic tradition.
