Author: DR. PRADEEP KUMAR PRADHAN, DR.SHEETAL ASUTKAR, DR. YOGESH YADAV, HARSHADA S. TIMANDE
Abstract: Background:A perianal abscess is a painful, reddish lump near the anal area, caused by bacteria infecting the gland near the anal canal. Pus containing germs, dead skin cells, and white blood cells, accumulates due to the infection. Left untreated, it can form a canal or tract known as a fistula. The abscess arises from bacteria infecting small glands near the anus. Aim: This observational study gives information about the incidence of fistula after the drainage of perianal abscess. Methods: This is the observational study to assess the incidence of fistula after drainage of perianal abscess. For the purpose of study we selected 30 patients who have the complaint of fistula. After that we had assess the history of patient to know the causative factor behind the fistula. On the basis of history of drainage of perianal abscess we assess the result of study. Result: In the study, 30 patients were included. Among them, 19 had a previous history of perianal abscess drainage, 7 had a history of perianal abscess without drainage, and the remaining 4 presented with new complaints of fistula without any prior perianal abscess history. Conclusion: In this Observational study after the survey it is found that the incidence of fistula after the drainage of perianal abscess is high i.e., 63.33%. Most of the patient who comes with the complaints of fistula may definitely have the Previous History of perianal abscess or History of drainage of perianal Abscess.
