Dextran Coated Silver Nanoparticle Grafted Aminated ßCyclodextrin for the Controlled and Efficient Release of Curcumin

Author: JIJUKR, ANOOPSNAIR, RESHMAR
Abstract: Delivering drugs at pre-determined rates has always remained a challenge for chemists around the world. However, with the advancement of modern technology and ‘smart’ materials, researchers have made abigleapin this field. Of the many materials used for drug delivery, polysaccharide-based materials have gained serious attention because of their economic viability, ease of modification, ready availability, and physiological acceptance. However, using these materials has rarely been explored in transdermal patches owing to their swelling capabilities, there bye liminating chances for reuse. Herein, were port a novel single-use transdermal (TD) patch fabricated from silver nanoparticle grafted aminated beta cyclodextrin (AgNp-g-AßCD) loaded with the anti-cancer drug curcumin (CUR). Finally, the entire compound was coated with dextran.Due to the route of drug administration, the instability of CUR towards acidic gastric pH can be addressed, and preferential local release can be achieved. The prepared TD patches were well characterized using FTIR, XRD, and SEMstudies. Drug permeation across rat skin was monitor edusing Franz diffusion cell and was found to be 70% after 24hours of administration. The release of the drug in its active form was ensured using MTT assay. All the results point out the material's potential capability to be used as asingle-use TD patch for the preferential local release of CUR.
Keyword: ß-cyclodextrin, curcumin, silver nanoparticles, transder malpatch.
