Ayurvedic Management Of Amavata W.S.R. To Rheumatoid Arthritis- A Case Study

Abstract: A female patient aged 43 yrs was came in OPD of kayachikitsa with complaining of sarvang sandhishool and graha Ubhay janusandhishool and shoth, katishool, reduced range of movement of joints, difficulty in walking since 2 years.It was diagnosed case of Rheumatoid arthritis with RA positive, CRP positive,? ESR & Anti CCP > 500.Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic inflammatory joint disease. RA is a destructive and deforming polyarthritis affecting small 4 large synovial joints.Disease Modifying antihematic drugs [DMARD] are widely used for improving & maintaining the functions of joints & prevention of deformity, but these medicines are associated with severe adverse effect.In Ayurveda based on clinical manifestations there is a close resemblance between Amavata and Rheumatoid Arthritis, hence patient was treated methodically as per line of management of Amavata.By using Ayurvedic medicines like Panchtiktaghrut Guggul, pravalpanchamrut, sanshmani vati, Ajmodadi choorn and Amruta arishta as a Abhyantar chikitisa and Valukapottali sweda for vama janusandhi shool, shoth this treatment shows an excellent result as swelling, stiffness, pain were markedly reduced with improved range of movement of joints after clinical improvement in the sign and symptoms was reported after 21 days which also improving the quality of life.
