Background: Osteogenesis imperfecta is a connective tissue disorder due to abnormal synthesis of type 1 collagen .It is also known as brittle bone disease. It is characterized by an increased risk of long bone fractures and reduced bone mineral density. It also results in frequent fractures following minor/trivial trauma. The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of management of lower limb fractures using cork screw tipped telescopic nailing and to analyze the results, reduction loss/ growth disturbances and loss of
movements/ complications.
Methods: 17 Cases of lower limb deformities in children between age of 3 and 7 years were treated by open single/multiple osteotomies (KEBAB TECHNIQUE) with insertion of cork screw tipped Fassierduval telescopic nail…All the cases were studied prospectively for outcome in terms of radiological union and walking
Conclusion: The results obtained in this study shows that Fassierduval telescopic rod insertion has got good functional results although there is no significant differences in outcome with respect to bone operated/gender/side.
