Standardization of simplicia Clove Leaf (Syzygium aromaticum) from Lemukutan Island, West Kalimantan as Raw Material for Wound Healing Ointment

Author: WINTARI TAURINA, MOHAMAD ANDRIE
Abstract: Raw materials are an important aspect used in the production process. The quality of a natural medicinal product is determined by the quality of the simplicia (raw materials) used. Indonesia is the largest producer and consumer of cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) in the world. Clove leaf (Syzygium aromaticum) is one of the raw materials that can be used in the preparation of wound healing drugs. The standardization of clove leaf simplicia (Syzygium aromaticum) has never been done before. The standardization of clove leaf simplicia (Syzygium aromaticum) in this study was carried out based on physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters. Physical, chemical, and microbiological testing methods are tested in the laboratory using methods according to SNI. Clove leaves were taken at Clove Gardens, Pulau Lemukutan Village, Sungai Raya Islands District, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan. The results of the clove leaf simplicia test included water content of 9.21%, ash content of 2.68%, acid insoluble ash 0.332%, E.Coli < 3 APM/gr, and yeast < 10 colonies/g had met the requirements. The results of the clove leaf simplicia test included mold 1.2 x 103 colonies/g, 0.060% iron, and a total plate number of 1.2 x 104 colonies/g. Clove leaf simplicia positive contains flavonoids and tannins. Saponins, and triterpenoids.
