Hand is a vital organ of human body which has to perform motor and fine tasks to do activities of daily living as well as professional work .Studies done on hand grip strength (HGS) suggested that it has a relationship with overall body strength. Nutritional state is typically based on the medical history of a person , measurements of body weight and height, triceps skinfold width, and so on, physical examinationand the circumference of the arm muscle, as well as clinical studies (creatinine-height index) and a mixture of serum albumin, transferrin, and creatinine concentrations. There is need of some tool which can help to get to know nutritional review or state of an individual so that accordingly further medical management can be plan for that individual. Several studies in past reported thathand grip strength measured with a dynamometer can be used as a test of skeletal muscle function which canbe used to predict postoperative complications and Hand grip strength can be considered as biomarker of various physiological systems.
