It is essential to study the effectiveness of couple therapy approaches, in particular emotionally focused and cognitive-behavioral interventions that can be implemented in group procedures to prevent many family and social harms, as well as high social burdens. This study was conducted to compare the impact of emotion-focused (EFT) and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) couple therapies on marital conflict among couples referring to Azarshahr Psychology Clinic in Kermanshah, Iran during 2016. This was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest procedures. In this research, 30 subjects were randomly assigned to two experimental groups. To collect data, the Marital Conflict Questionnaire (MCQ-R) and Couple Burnout Measure (CBM) were used. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS21 software. Results indicated the effectiveness of both studied therapies in reducing marital conflict. Moreover, emotion-focused couple therapy (EFCT) was more effective in reducing marital conflicts compared to Cognitive-Behavioral Couple Therapy (CBCT) (P<0.001).
