The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of exergame exercise and dual task exercise on the executive functions of young elderly people. Participants in the exercise protocol included: 30 elderly men and women aged 50-65 years. The exercise protocol was performed during 18 sessions and 6 weeks and each session lasted 30-40 minutes in two groups. Exergame group played boxing and track and field games and dual task group exercise included walking with 50-75% of maximum heart rate And was accompanied by a secondary cognitive task. The research method was quasi-experimental and the research design was pre-test and post-test. In order to analyze the data, descriptive and inferential statistics of Manova, one-way variance, Shapiro and Mbox with a significance level of 0.05 were used. According to the results, we witnessed the positive effects of exergame exercise and dual task exercise on visual and auditory working memory of the subjects and the effects of both groups in the post-test on the visual working memory component were significant (P value = 0.038). Also, despite the positive effects of exergame exercise and dual task exercise in the follow-up test, the amount of changes in visual and auditory working memory was not significant (P value = 0.350). Despite the positive effects of both exercise groups, there were no significant changes in the response inhibition component.
