Effectivity of Anredera cordifolia Leaf Extract and Vitamin E as a Candidate of Antiinflammatory Herbal Medicine on Animals Model with Acute Postpartum Metritis Based on TNF-a Level and Histopathology of Inflammatory Cells in Endometrium

Author: VISKI FITRI HENDRAWAN, NIHAYATUL MUHTAJ, GALUH CHANDRA AGUSTINA, DESI WULANSARI, M. ARFAN LESMANA
Abstract: Metritis is caused by bacterial infections of both gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria. Anredera cordifolia which is known by the public as an efficacious plant has many contents such as flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids and steroids. Vitamin E called antioxidant also plays an important role in the inflammatory process. The combination of Anredera cordifolia and vitamin E is expected to be used as a medication for metritis in cattle. This study aimed to determine the effect of Anredera cordifolia extract and vitamin E therapy on TNF-a level and visualization of inflammatory cells in endometrial organs of white pregnant female rats (Rattus norvegicus) of Wistar strains. Rats were divided into 3 groups. The control group and treatment groups of this study were K- (negative control induced by S. aureus and no treatment is given), K + (positive control induced by S. aureus and giving therapy with Amoxicillin) and P1 (group of bacteria-induced S. aureus and giving therapy with Anredera cordifolia and vitamin E). The analysis used in this study uses quantitative data analysis analysed using the one-way ANOVA (Analysis of Variable) statistical test, a = 0.05 and followed by Least Significant Different Test (LSD) with a < 5%. The result showed that an administration of extract and vitamin E at dosage 50 mg/ 200 gram BW and 0,04 IU/ each can repair TNF-a level more than Amoxicillin with the value of 2,872 ± 0,267 by flowcytometry method and reduce infiltration of inflammatory cell in endometrium layers of positive control group and treatment group in scoring in grade 1.
