Background: Myocarditis is associated with acute or chronic inflammation of the heart muscle. One of the urgent
emergency measurements for patients presenting with myocarditis symptoms is electrocardiography (ECG), which
often shows nonspecific changes such as AV block, ventricular/supraventricular arrhythmia, ST-segment changes,
etc. This study aimed to find the association between cardiac fibrosis and ECG changes.
Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, 15 patients with a definite diagnosis of myocarditis were
selected randomly. Expert clinicians analyzed the ECG and the cardiac MR (CMR) of these patients. All
cardiovascular imaging of these patients was performed using a 1.5 Tesla Siemens AVANTO model.
Results: The results show no significant association between the percentage of the scar and QT complex interval,
PR interval, QRS interval, and QTC interval (P> 0.05).
Conclusion: there is no significant association between cardiac fibrosis percentage and cardiac electrical
parameters.
