The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on
marital intimacy, anxiety, and life quality among the betrayed women in Isfahan. The study was a quasiexperimental study with a pretest-posttest design, a control group, and a one-month follow-up. The population
was all betrayed by women. Forty people were selected using the convenient sampling method and randomly
assigned into two groups: control (n=20) and experimental (n=20). The instruments used were Bagarozzi's
(2001) Couple's Intimacy Needs Questionnaire, Beck Anxiety (1988), Life Quality Questionnaire of the World
Health Organization (1989) that were filed in. A pre-test was conducted for both groups before the
interventions, and then ACT sessions were held at the end of the sessions, a post-test was performed on both
groups and the follow-up period was performed after a month. The results analysis was carried out by covariance
analysis. The findings revealed that ACT was effective on marital intimacy, anxiety, and life quality among the
betrayed women (p <0.05). Additionally, the results of the follow-up period showed that ACT training had a
lasting effect on reducing the anxiety of betrayed women (p <0.05). Overall, one can conclude that ACT affects
marital intimacy, anxiety, and the life quality among the betrayed women and this treatment method can be used
in psychological clinics and educational centers.
