DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pricrylhydrazyl) free radical and ABTS 2,2-Azino-bis (3-ethyl benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt was used to determine the potent antioxidant activity of methanol extract from red alga Gymnogongrus pygmaeus. The methanol extract showed remarkable scavenging effects in DPPH free radical scavenging assay and the operation showed a strong correlation with total phenolic content. From the results, the methanol extract of the red seaweed
G. pygmaeus can be useful sources of antioxidant to cure diseases oxidizing diseases.
