This article in brief discusses about the basic concepts of biobanks and their relation with the personalized medicine. Brief information of types of biobanks along with their standards and regulatory requirements are discussed. The present challenges that biobanks are facing and the best practices implemented in order to overcome the challenges were discussed. The advancements like e-biobanking are explained along with the role of pharmacists’ in the personalized medicine.
