Background: Upper upper aerodigestive tract (UADT) cancers, are the seventh most frequent cancer type and the seventh most common cause of death from cancer worldwide. Some studies showed that Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is related to upper upper aerodigestive tract cancer. The result of the study is to provide the number of mortality and morbidity also the premature mortality cost related to infection of HPV, EBV, and H. Pylori.
Methods: This study calculates the mortality and morbidity rates also premature mortality cost of upper aerodigestive tract cancers attributable to Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection using 2020 GLOBOCAN database in Indonesia countries.
Results : Nasopharyngeal cancer hit the highest mortality and morbidity rates both in male and female, attributable to HPV,EBV and H. Pylori. The highest mortality rates is attributable to H. Pylori which is (age range 50-64) 75% for male. While the highest morbidity rates is attributable H. Pylori which is 33% , in age range 35-49 years old (male). The total cost of nasopharynx cancer-related to HPV,EBV and H. Pylori was highest among others type of cancers. The total cost of nasopharynx cancer-related to H. Pylori in males is the highest, $4.05 million (all age range).
Conclusion: Nasopharynx cancer contributes the highest numbers in morbidity, mortality, and premature mortality cost attributable to HPV, EBV and H. Pylori in Indonesia amongs male and female. Lifestyle intervention, health care education, and policy can reduce the burden of UADT cancer.
