William Glasser names five intrinsic or primary needs in choice theory (survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and recreation). He considers these needs as the substantial base and the main reason for human being’s behavior. This research specified that firstly, there are significant conflicts between choice theory and Holy Quran to satisfy these needs based on adjustment and criticism of this theory and Holy Quran. Secondly, although there are conflicts over the way of fulfilling these needs, they are confirmed to exist in human being’s behavioral base. while Quran does not consider them intrinsic needs, we can call them primary needs.
Thirdly, Holy Quran considers other needs as instinctive ones for human beings since Quran connects to the invisible divine source and it takes particular attention to the heavenly and sublime dimension of the human being. needs to worship God and eternity are human being’s instinctive needs that persuade them to behave in a particular way. The choice theory ignores these two primary needs since it possesses a material base.
