In traditional Vietnamese medicine, Adenosma caeruleum R.Br is sometimes used to treat jaundice and liver disease. A variety of compounds isolated from A. caeruleum have recently been found to be cytotoxic. However, there has been no published research on the toxicity of A. caeruleum on leukemia cells. Therefore, in this study, the methanol extract of A.caeruleumn was used to evaluate the effect on K562 leukemia cells. A. caeruleum extract was shown to be toxic on K562 cells, with an IC50 value of 62.27 ? 2.86 ?g/mL. Aside from that, A. caeruleum extract had no effect on Artemia shrimp larvae viability.
