Cubosomes For Drug Delivery

Author: ABHIJITH K R, NAGASAMY VENKATESH D, PRANESH B, EZHILAN C
Abstract: Cubosomes are nanostructured liquid crystalline particle which comprised of utilizing certain amphiphilic lipids (e.g. Glyceryl monooleate and Phytantriol) in presence of reasonable stabilizer. Cubosomes are organised in three-dimensional structure as honeycomb which comprises curved bicontinuous lipid bilayer which is divided into two internal aqueous channels. Cubosomes could be loaded with hydrophilic, hydrophobic, amphiphilic drugs and proteins and peptides which can be represent as a novel drug delivery system. Cubosomes have special properties such as bioadhision, thermodynamic stability, the potential for controlled release though functionalization and innovative vehicles for multiple routes of administration.
