Aim of review: This review aims to critically asses and summarize the updated information concerning the
ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry, and pharmacology of E hirtaas well as its toxicology and discuss the
existing problem and future research direction of E hirta.
Material and Methods: All the information and data was collected on Euphorbia hirta using keywords “
Euphorbia’’. Along with the “Phytoconstituents and “Pharmacology’’ “Traditional medicine” “Taxonomy” and
pertinent data were obtained from several electronic scientific databases (Pubmed, SciFinder , Scopus, ACS
publications and web of science ) and additional information was obtained from textbooks and local prints and
scripts. They were read and systematically summarize and organize into many titles to facilitate understanding.
Results: Phytochemical analysis has described important chemical constituents of E hirta including several
active constituents have been isolated.Afzelin (i),quercetin(II) and myricetin (III) have been isolated from the
methanolic extract .and chemical investigation led to the isolation of the rutin (IV) euphorbin -A,euphorbin -
B,euphorbin- C and kaempferol,gallic acid,proto catechicacid.and with the key compounds with key
pharmacological effects include Antibacterial activity,Anti malarial activity,Anti inflammatory activity .galactogen
activity, anti-asthmatic activity, AntiOxidantactivity,Anti fertility,Anti amoebic and Antifungalactivity.
Conclusion: The Widley spread of the various synthetic drugs to treat human health has several side effects
besides their availability to the higher costs. Hence, examining natural available bioactive compounds is crucial.
