Everything About the Medicinal Plant “Chicory”

Abstract:

Since a long time ago, medicinal plants have been of great value and importance in terms of supplying hygiene and healthcare as well as diseases’ prevention and treatment in the communities. In recent years, the society’s public inclination towards the use of medicinal plants and natural processed products is increasing due to the awareness of the side effects of chemical drugs and the creation of bioenvironmental pollutions. According to the statistics published by the World Health Organization, over 80% of the people from around the globe, especially developing countries and poor and distant regions, supply their treatment needs via medicinal plants. The medicinal plants are considered amongst the natural reservoirs and resources and the type, number and diversity of the plant species in every country depend on its climatic conditions and different geographical position. Processing and packaging of medicinal plants are justified economically optimally and Khuzestan Province possesses a potential ability in cultivating these plants and such a ground can be exploited for making considerable contributions to the economy of the province and the country. One of these plants is chicory and the author of the present study intends to prove the foresaid claim by making the readers familiar with the chicory’s properties.
