Evaluation of hepatoprotective activity of various extracts of Olax scandens (Roxb.) on paracetamol treated hepatotoxicant rats

Author: P.PRANAYA , D.AKILADEVI
Abstract: Liver, the mojor organ of digestion and discharge, has the capacity of detoxifying xenobiotics, natural contaminations and chemotherapeutic agents. Current examination was to analyze hepatoprotective capability of Olax scandens (family Olacaceae) on paracetamol-initiated hepatotoxicant rats. The Olax scandens was extracted with various solvents (PE, EA and methanol) by Soxhlet extractor and unrefined various concentrate used for hepatoprotective effect. Paracetamol (2000mg/kgb.wt.) supplementation to rodents hepatotoxicant on the fifth day of the treatment period and treated orally. Paracetamol offered rodents show basically raised (p<0.001) exercises of liver chemical agent, for example, SGOT, SGPT, ALP, gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase , creatinine, urea, bilirubin, TC and TG and decreased total protein and ALB in cluster II rats. Besides, Supplementation of Olax scandens methanolic extract (200mg/kgb.wt.) treated rodents were altogether reduction(p<0.001) concentration of SGOT, SGPT, ALP, gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase creatinine, urea, TB, TC and TG and furthermore essentially raised concentration of TP and ALB in contrasted with different extract. Methanolic extract of Olax scandens has exposed that the presence of phenolic and flavonoids. Consequently, results suggested that methanolic extract of Olax scandens could be bear the cost of better hepatoprotective action against paracetamol treated hepatotoxicity rodents.
