The Effectiveness of Educational Guideline on Quality of Sleepamong Menopausal Women with Hot Flashes

Abstract: Menopause is very important period in women’s life and may be caused many different diseases which have affected on general women’s health, although hot flashes can occur any time during a 24hour, those occurring at night, there was accorded among hot flashes and poor sleep quality. Our target of this investigation was studied the effects of an educational guideline on quality of sleep between menopausal women had hot flashes. Quasi-experimental study design using to fulfill our target. Purposive sample that consisted of one hundred menopausal female was recruited from Obstetrics and Gynecological Outpatient Clinic at Benha University Hospital. Collected data throughout three tools: structured interviewing questionnaire, menopausal rating scale, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Results: More than three quarters (80%) of studied woman had inadequate knowledge regarding menopause and hot flashes at pre intervention, while nearly three quarters of them (74%) had adequate knowledge regarding menopause and hot flashes at post intervention. Nearly two thirds (60%) of studied women had worse sleep at pre intervention while, only one fifth (20%) of them had worse sleep at post intervention .Conclusion: significantly improving in study group's knowledge, practices regard to menopause and hot flashes after guideline implementation compared to before guideline implementation. the designed educational guideline had positive effect on improving quality of sleep among women with hot flashes.
