Abstract:

Cervical cancer regarded as one among the most serious health issue in women commonly in the developing countries due to exposure to different strains of Human Papilloma Virus and a lack of an effective immune system action, hence is one of the Global Health Crisis. Although early stage tumours could be treated , cervical cancer has resulted in long term morbidity and mortality in women. Molecular mechanisms along with the pathogenesis is vital in deciding the treatment regimen and clinical management. Prognosis of the disease is decided on the basis of involvement of lymph node, size of the tumour and how deep the invasion is. Prevention of the cancer is mainly through screening as well as vaccination. The most widely adopted treatment option among the cervical cancer patient involves surgery and chemoradiotherapy that is decided and targeted based on the stage of progression of the disease. Knowing about signs and symptoms, the risk factors and the complications as presented in this article review helps in the easier diagnosis and the management of the disease. The most advanced management options to improve the prevention and treatment of the carcinoma are discussed in this article.
