Influences of Covid 19 on Environment and Its Impact on Community Health in Thailand

Abstract: COVID-19, formerly known as the "2019 novel coronavirus", is a newly discovered virus that causes a similarly severe respiratory syndrome to coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which has been widely transmitted to humans by human contact and was reported by the WHO in March 2020. Became an epidemic. Many countries across the globe have adopted lockdowns to combat the epidemic, restricting unnecessary activities and encouraging their populations to avoid public transportation, work without developing where possible and maintain social distance at all times. Although the severity of these shutdowns varies from country to country, large geographical areas of the world (including China, India, Iran, Italy, Spain and the USA) have all been severely affected, not only in terms of human casualties, but also in terms of economic impacts, lockdowns on the future prosperity of their countries. Thailand’s economy mainly depends on tourism and plays an important role in socio-economic, cultural development and sustainable development of the Thailand. According to the tourism statistics of Thailand, 38.27 million tourists have been arrived in the year of 2018 with increased up 7.5% from 2017 and which has significantly contributed to the country’s economy. The number of tourists visiting Thailand increased from 35.35 million in 2017 to 38.28 million in 2018 and then to 39.80 million in 2019. The increase in visitors from 2018 to 2019 is limited to 4.24%, which is actually lower than the Thai authorities expected, significantly contributed to the country’s economy. However, COVID -19 pandemic induces negative impacts on tourism sector, socioeconomic status of locals, and culture. The study aimed to elucidate the factors encourages visiting Koh Larn beach. However, tourism sector induces negative impacts on environment, and culture. But due to travel ban it has positive impact on different aspects of environmental issues. The study aimed to elucidate the positive sides of COVID -19 at Koh Larn beach. The study results revealed that the tourism activities may impact on water quality, water pollution such as increases the heavy metals concentrations ultimately it influences the aquatic life, food chain finally mammals will affect with wide range of pollutants. On the other hand, due to travel ban levels of heavy metals in water declined significantly.
