Alhagi camelorum(previously named asAlhagi maurorum) is a traditional herb belonging to the family
Leguminosae. This plant is cultivated locally and used as traditional medicine to treat various disorders like
ulcers, injuries, piles, gastric disorders, fungal and bacterial infections etc. Due to presence of a large number of
chemical constituents, this plant is very much in use as a potent alternative to chemical drugs.Since the plant is
very necessary for therapy, it would be reasonable to study literature on its phytochemistry, pharmacognosy,
and pharmacology. It contains various flavonoids which are responsible for the hepatoprotective activity of the
plant. Various traditional uses of Alhagi camelorum still need to be clinically tested to set its potential in other
disorders too. A new approach in the application of this plant has been found which is in the synthesis of
metallic nanoparticles (Au and Ag). In the article we are focusing on the pharmacognostic and various pharmacological activities of the plant that can be considered useful for human use
