Abstract: The World Health Organization proclaimed Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic expanding across the world. Several countries have implemented various public health regulations including curfews, lockdowns, social distancing, and various other measures to contain the disease spread. However, prolonged lockdown, isolation, fear of infection, absence of a cure, and economic burden, have significantly impacted mental health, especially among students. This study aimed to assess the anxiety, depression and fear induced by COVID-19 among pharmacy students.A web-based survey was carried out among Indian pharmacy students, using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale-7 (GAD-7) and Fear of COVID-19 scale (FCV-19s) to evaluate anxiety symptoms fear of COVID-19. Of the total 233 students, 120 (51.5%) of the respondents experienced moderate to severe anxiety symptoms, which are very significant. The FCV-19s mean score was 19.41 (±5.708), and 57.51% of the respondents scored higher than this mean, indicating high fear due to COVID-19. The students have experienced high psychological distress, possibly due to continued staying at home, fear of uncertainty, and lack of physical activity. Successful interventions with coping behaviors such as regular exercise, meditation, and yoga can be beneficial during these testing times.
