A simple, specific, accurate and precise high performance thin layer chromatography method was used to develop the
estimation of Atorvastatin, Losartan potassium, Atenolol and Aspirin in tablet dosage form. For the High performance thin
layer chromatography method, precoated silica gel 60 F254 was used as stationary phase and mobile phase consisted of
methanol : chloroform : toluene : benzene : glacial acetic acid (7:2:0.5:0.5:0.05% v/v). The detection of spot was carried out
at 220 nm and the Rf value was found to be 0.75±0.03, 0.41±0.01, 0.21±0.02, 0.63±0.05. The method was validated in terms
of linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection, limit of quantification etc. in accordance with ICH guidelines. Linear
regression analysis data for the calibration plot showed that there was a good linear relationship between response and
concentration of the drug for high performance thin layer chromatography respectively. No chromatographic interference
from tablet excipients was found. The proposed method was successfully used for estimation of Atorvastatin, Losartan
Potassium, Atenolol and Aspirin in tablet dosage form.
